Message from the Course DirectorWelcome to WB-2132,
Congratulations to each of you for making the decision to improve the scouting program for your youth by attending the premier leadership training available, Wood Badge! We, your staff, have made a commitment to present this powerful leadership course using the Scout Oath and Law as our guide at all times. You will be learning and growing together while experiencing the scouting program as a member of Gilwell Troop 1. Gilwell (Camp George Thomas) represents the home of Wood Badge in Gilwell Park, near London England where it all began in 1919. Gilwell, like all of scouting, is a safe place where you are encouraged to join in discussions, ask questions and be a little silly as we play the game with a purpose. Each day of your training experience will be full of both indoor and outdoor learning opportunities, powerful tools for you to use in scouting and in the work place, and new friends that will help you succeed as you become part of a high-performance team. Prepare yourself to keep an open mind and an open heart as you meet new people, learn new things and find new ways to enrich your programs at home. The staff is here to teach and guide you on this journey and we stand ready to help you be successful. Don’t hesitate to ask for help or more information. Invite a friend or colleague to attend Wood Badge with you, our youth will thank you for it. Yours in the scouting spirit, Rick Craig Course Director WB-2132 |
